Cork spring wire shrink tubing?
I bought this ice fishing fir, but do not know how to put on the shrink tube
Too often, the shrink tubing is too small in diameter to slip over the guidance of the tip of your rod. When that happens, forget the shrink tubing and just use a couple of turns of electrician's tape. You can use almost any type of tape, actually, but the electrician is more flexible and easier to remove if you decide to take the spring of cork. If the tube is actually sliding on the guide, do so. Place the spring inside tube between the tube and rod. Then use a heat source to reduce the size of the tube until snug. A hair dryer works normally, but can be slow depending on how much heat it generates. If you are very careful, you can use a lighter to do the same. Just do not get too close because of excessive heat also break the resistance of glass fiber at the tip of the rod and ruin an otherwise bar in perfect condition. Good luck.

What is Heat Shrink Tubing and Why do we Use it?
Heat shrink tubing may not sound like an interesting topic, but the truth is you use it every day. You use it to plug your computer in, charge you cell phone, and listen to your iPod. A heat shrinking tube is a plastic tube that shrinks in diameter when in contact with heat. They are used to hold and protect electrical wires, and vary in thickness, width, and color.
What is Heat Shrink Tubing Used for?
Heat shrink tubing is made to insulate wires from extreme heat, seal out and water and dust that could collect in cable joints, harness multiple wires together, prevent abrasions, and even help repair any damaged wires or cables.
What is Heat Shrink Tubing Made of?
Heat shrink tubing can be made from a wide range of different types of thermoplastics such as polyolefin, and polyvinyl chloride. Other materials can be added to create an adhesive lining to help seal the tubing and make it water proof.
What makes the Plastic Tubing Shrink?
Most plastic doesn’t shrink down when you apply heat to it. What makes heat shrink tubing different is the process used to expand the plastic. This process is called cross-linking. Cross-linking exposes the polymers to radiation creating covalent bonds between atoms. This process is often referred to as giving the tube a “plastic memory”. When the cross-linking process is over, the tube will remain it an expanded shape until heat is applied which it will then shrink back down to its original shape. Each type of tubing has a different shrink ratio that determines how small the tube diameter will shrink when heat is applied.
